Comment on Mexico’s Love and Care for The Beatles Lives On by Maikol https://www.mexperience.com/mexicos-love-of-the-beatles-lives-on/#comment-34900 Fri, 05 Jul 2024 21:14:53 +0000 https://www.mexperience.com/?p=24230---9bdb8160-1da4-4437-85fc-6f81c04e6745#comment-34900 Mexico did offer The Beatles an opportunity to play either in Mexico City or Guadalajara (where they were even more popular), but the Beatles wanted too much money — they actually asked for the Palacio de Bellas Artes as compensation. I greatly believe that The Beatles really did not want to play in any Latin American countries which at the time were definitely considered THIRD WORLD. Not that the members of the Beatles were racist or ethnic centrists, but they probably felt those nations were beneath them because of the language barrier and backward culture. One has to remember, it was the 1960s, not the 2020s.

Comment on Dealing with Electricity Power Cuts in Mexico by RS Maria https://www.mexperience.com/when-the-lights-go-out/#comment-34899 Fri, 05 Jul 2024 10:12:22 +0000 https://www.mexperience.com/blogs/mexicoinsight/?p=134---bea8e9ab-d2cf-4c81-99bc-3c5fc9a2761d#comment-34899 In reply to Butler.

Because my kitchen is all electric I have purchased a small gas burner, readily available in a variety of stores. They can be purchased to use either propane or butane canisters. So, even without power I can still have coffee (using pour over or press method). And, can cook a skillet meal. The burners are commonly used indoors but I prefer the patio.

Mexico is a major exporter of food, and seems to have survived recent climate disasters fairly well. I’m a Canadian, and we have suffered major crises like the complete loss of grape crops in the whole of BC, and droughts in the Prairies, so our consumers welcome Mexican produce whenever we find it in the supermarket. That has to affect the trade balance, and this of course drives the exchange rate.
I’m not an economist, I just buy lots of asparagus…

Lavender is also said to be very relaxing. Hopefully it doesn’t work because you’re so relaxed you just don’t care you got bit. ????

Some people would probably have to stay in the shower all day and all night with the bar of soap.

Once I buy the house, I won’t have the assets to qualify for PR. So can I apply now for PR and then retire and move there later? If so, how much “later?”

Hello Jerry,
We’ve heard that SOME airports are no longer asking foreign residents to register their departure, but many still do.

In any event, if you forgot, when you get back show your residency card and explain the situation to the immigration official. They might ask for some proof of your departure date, so take your flight receipt with you.

The most important thing is not to re-enter Mexico as a tourist.

See this article for details about procedures
